A QR code menu you can change without reprinting

Dish of the day, prices, summer menu: with a QR code pointing to a short link, the menu changes as often as you like while the table cards stay put.

Une carte de menu avec un QR code, entre une fourchette et un couteau dessinés, sur fond orange

Le Bistrot du Marché printed 40 table cards with a QR code for its menu. Three weeks later, the price of wine by the glass changes, then the autumn menu arrives. With a classic QR code that holds the PDF's address directly, everything has to be reprinted. With Bref, nobody touched the table cards.

The idea: the QR points to the link, not to the menu

The QR code of a Bref link holds the short address (say go.lebistrot.be/menu), not the destination. When the menu changes, you replace the destination in the dashboard: yesterday's PDF, your website's page tomorrow, another file next week. The printed QR follows.

Set up in five minutes

  1. Create a menu link to your current menu.
  2. In the QR tab, pick your colours and dot shape and add your logo in the centre. Error correction is raised automatically so the logo does not get in the way.
  3. Download the QR as SVG for the printer, or PNG for a home-made card.
  4. Test it with two or three different phones, from the distance your customers will scan it.

Going a bit further

  • One menu per language. Add a rule: if the phone's language is English or Dutch, send to the translated version. One QR on the table, the right menu for everyone.
  • Lunch and dinner. Switch the destination between lunch and dinner service, or schedule an end date for a festive menu.
  • Knowing whether the QR is used. Analytics keep scans apart from clicks. You see how many customers open the menu, at what times, and on which phones.

Tip: create a different link for the terrace and the dining room (/menu-terrace, /menu-inside). You will know where the QR is used most, without asking anyone.

What your customers see

One scan, an instant redirect, the menu. No app to install, no cookie on their phone. If the menu is not online yet, you can even show a countdown until opening.

Paper gets reprinted once a year. The link changes in ten seconds.
